Just to clarify, cos I've had a few people ask about this now...

Over January, Maccas Torquay gets REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY busy.
Owner seems to think that we need to borrow staff for that month from other stores. However they haven't given the staff from other stores much information on why they're there.
They are coming in with attitudes such as "They need help with the new system", and "They need help because they're slow" or we apparently generally need help.

It's offensive and intrusive. And we would be fine if the current staff of our Maccas received the hours we used to. So far according to the rosters, we'll be struggling for another 2 weeks financially at least. Which doesn't seem right this time of year.

We're losing hours to the staff from other stores that are supposed to be helping us.

I'm just pissed off, I guess.

Maccas is frustrating. I like all the people, we're busy as all f***, but because we have lots of new people starting, we're not getting enough hours. Right before Christmas. Who hires someone 2 weeks before our most busy period??? And who gets to pick up the slack and run half the store when the manager has to go help in the kitchen? Me, and other senior staff. And we've just lost a heap of our best staff to the supermarket, and other places, because we're treated so badly.

We get yelled at for everything. Most of the time, it's the owner coming in and yelling at the managers for something, then they get cranky and take it out on us. It's over things like the floor is messy. We just had a massive rush of customers. We're making money for you while you sit on your arse at home. Go to hell.

Don't get me wrong, I like my job. They're very good about being flexible for family stuff, and giving me shifts only during times that Ab has childcare. But FFS, it's just so exhausting.

Of course, it doesn't help when you apply for heaps of jobs, get many an interview out of that effort, get told you're in the short list for a majority of those interviews, then none of you actually hire you. What a slap to the face. Kick up the butt. What am I, diseased or something? Am I too fat and ugly?

I know I'm not, and no, this isn't an ego thing - I don't want everyone to tell me I'm beautiful and blah blah blah. This is a situation where I just want someone to hire me. It has occurred to me on many occasions that the only reason I have this job at Maccas is because Shaun got it for me. And the only reason I got the temp work at Deakin was because it was work that Mum didn't want to do for herself - it was to repetitive and boring - so they paid me to do it.

I just wish I could get hired for a job based on my own merit and efforts.
